What We Do
Quick Dog Productions is a multi-faceted production service that handles ENG to Post Production for the adventure market. Our latest DVD centers on working dogs, and our mission for creating it was simple: Encourage better training practices by understanding the natural behavior of retrievers.
The technology that allowed us to enter a dog's world with high-definition cameras, also helped to illustrate how much dogs really "respond" to particular training scenarios. Retrievers in the Field is masterfully filmed, entertaining and a great resource for every dog owner and trainer.
Training these highly intelligent working dogs requires a good understanding of their personalities and behaviors, and Retrievers in the Field delivers it in stunning detail. Play Video Clip!
Featuring AKC Pro/Raney Ranch Retrievers

Retrievers in the Field features professional AKC Hunt Test competitor, and established Pro Retriever trainer Steve Raney. Steve and Carrie Raney have been raising Retrievers for the past 20 years and eventually sold their home in the city and established one of the most professional and dedicated training facilities in the western U.S. on a 150-acre ranch in San Diego, California. Their passion for the past 8 years has been developing Raney Ranch Retrievers to breed, raise and train high quality Labrador Retrievers. Carrie handles the Retriever breeding program and Steve handles the Retriever conditioning, obedience, gun dog and AKC Hunt Test program starting at the Junior Hunt Test level through the Master Hunt Test level. Steve qualified several of his dogs for the American Kennel Club Master Nationals in 2010. In 2011, Steve was invited to compete in the Master Nationals again, and his dog Rio not only passed the week long event, Rio was inducted in the Master National Hall of Fame and awarded the MNH title. Two of Steve's other retrievers also passed this grueling event. |

Multi-award winning producer, Larry Saavedra has captured the raw energy of lifestyle adventures to fast-action motorsport competitions. Then he turned his cameras on his real passion, the wonderful world of dogs. “Interpreting how the environment impacts a dog’s ability is a concept used for years by professional trainers. We presented this trusted strategy in a narrative style, so that the average dog owner could get a real picture of how dogs learn to retrieve marks and blinds using their senses," Larry said. "We designed camera systems that allowed us to take the viewer along as the dogs busted cover, crossed water and ran at full speed in an effort to share an aspect of proper handling that was being mostly overlooked.” Larry produced, wrote and directed the long-running motorsports series Four Wheeler TV and Top Truck Challenge, seen weekly since 2008 on the Outdoor Channel. Together with his wife Janey, a professional graphic artist, they have spent a decade training their own Labrador Retrievers and continue to participate in AKC competitions throughout the western U.S. Larry and Janey are certified AKC Hunt Test judges.
